This observation may be completed by the Agency Program Director-Education Specialist once during the school year. This observation is used to improve and enhance our classrooms, as well as prepare our classrooms for their annual Accreditation Visit/Monitor (Refer to Accreditation Procedure).

Procedure:· The 7 subscales of the ECERS are used to evaluate the classroom environment, personal care, activities, interactions with children, program structure, interactions with parents and provisions made for staff. · The Agency Program Director-Education Specialist will score the classroom(s) using the 7-point scale outlined in the ECERS. · The Agency Program Director-Education Specialist will interview staff as needed to complete the scale. · Upon completion of the Observation the Agency Program Director-Education Specialist will keep the original and the Local Program Director/FSW will receive a copy to review with staff. 1. If a classroom or center has several deficiencies then a Program Improvement Plan will be developed by the Agency Program Director-Education Specialist and implemented by the Local Program Director.
