GOVERNANCE

Northwest Arkansas Head Start has an established formal structured Program Governance known as the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors members have legal and fiscal responsibility for administering and overseeing the Head Start and Early Head Start programs. Northwest Arkansas Head Start Board of Directors fully participate in the development, planning, and evaluation of the Head Start programs.

The Policy Council is a group of Head Start and Early Head Start parents and community members who help lead and make decisions about their program. Policy Council members are elected by the parents of children enrolled in the program.  The Policy Council meets regularly as a formal structured group. They work closely with the program's management team and the governing body to provide overall direction for the program.
